Kelsey Trail Health Region responds to HSAS job action

By KTHR

KTHR is attempting to contact patients and clients that may have appointments scheduled with

programs or departments that are affected by the job action. This may include programs such as

Therapies, Mental Health, Addictions, Pharmacy, Public Health Inspection, Acquired Brain Injury,

Medical Social Work, Health Promotion, Nutrition and Dietitian services, and EMS.

The public is encouraged to contact their respective health professional's office in advance to ensure that

services will be available on the day their appointment is scheduled. Clients may contact Regional

Office at 873-6600 if they are unsure where to direct their inquiries.

Programs that will continue without disruption include all surgeries, physician appointments and most

hospital-based outpatient procedures and visits.

KTHR has provided HSAS staff and union leadership with information regarding employees that have

been declared essential in the event of job action. There are approximately 98 HSAS employees in

Kelsey Trail Health Region. Of those, approximately 50 percent have been declared essential.

"Patient safety is our number one priority, and the Region will provide more information to patients and

the public about specific program disruptions if job action is taken," said Glen Kozak, CEO. "It is hoped

that a satisfactory resolution will be negotiated as soon as possible."
