Evergreen holds first annual Christmas Tree Extraveganza

By Melissa Mangelsen

The first annual Christmas Tree Extravaganza, held Dec. 8, at the Nipawin Evergreen Centre was a success for the Nipawin Region Health Foundation.

The event raised $4,866 for the Nipawin Health Foundation, which Lewis Robin said would be put into their pool of funds for the operating room department.

In total, 19 items were available, including 11 trees, 6 wreaths, a Christmas goose and two ginger bread displays.

Robin said the equipment for the operating room is expensive, so this funding will help out a lot.

The Nipawin Regional Health Foundation will be holding a meeting in the near future to begin planning for next years event, which Robin said may offer a longer window for viewing.

"We've already received phone calls from people who are interested in being involved next year," he said.

The Christmas Tree Extravaganza exceeded the expectations that Robin had for the first year of the event.

The open house took place from 5 to 9, with some items available to purchase. All proceeds from the Extravaganza went to the Nipawin Region Health Foundation. A live and silent auction was held in conduction with the Evergreen Christmas Gala, Dec. 10.
